Interoperable data is a key element of standardization, information sharing, transparency and analysis. XML vocabularies are slowly creeping into use, but need to accelerate greatly to help all industries move forward. This is especially true in emergency management and national security, where lives can be at risk when information is not shared or the "dots aren't connected" in time to make a difference.
